Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, Who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God Who can deliver like this.
I love the last line in today's key scripture: 'There is no other God Who can deliver like this!' Truly we serve a God Who delivers His people and His promises.
Consider two definitions of 'deliver' (World English Dictionary):
1) 'To release or rescue': 'The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in Whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold' (Psalm 18:2).
God will protect His stars in Hollywood--from attacks (fiery furnaces and lions' dens) and from temptations (idol worship), for 'The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations' (2 Peter 2:9).
God will also rescue His people from the influence of wandering stars and greedy shepherds in media. 'Thus says the Lord God: 'Behold, I am against the shepherds... for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them' ' (Ezekiel 34:10).
2) 'To give birth': Joseph, the son of Jacob, said to his brothers in Egypt, 'God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance' (Genesis 45:7).
We are that posterity, and Jesus is our great deliverance, 'Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father' (Galatians 1:4). Through His glorious resurrection, we are born into a new life.
As strangers in Hollywood, actors, models, and talent for Christ are agents of delivery from 'This present evil age'. You are emissaries of freedom sent from the government of God. Media is your means, talent is your package, love is your message, and communication is your gift.
