Success Strategies: Connection
They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them. From their silver and gold they made idols for themselves.
Hosea 8:4 (NKJV)
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
Psalm 118:9 (NKJV)
Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him; All nations shall serve Him.
Psalm 72:11 (NKJV)
The worldwide web is about connection: silvery threads that cover the earth.

Social media is about connection: places like FB form community.

The entertainment industry is about connection: meeting the right people in the right places to get ahead. To succeed, you must know somebody who knows somebody.

Red carpet events are about connection: stars glitter for cameras, fans and each other. It's a game of one-upmanship. The best connections are essential.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: place every ladder behind Jacob's ladder. The Somebody you need to connect with is God.

'If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you' (John 15:7, NKJV). Because all other connections will fall short. But never God. 'Surely the Arm of the Lord is not too short to save' (Isaiah 59:1, NIV).

It's about priorities: if you stay connected with God, practice your talent and wait patiently on His promotion, He'll place you before the right people: 'A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men' (Proverbs 18:16, NASB).

'Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men' (Proverbs 22:29, NKJV). Even more: 'Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about and see; They all gather together, they come to you' (Isaiah 60:3-4, NASB).

Therein, connection with God first and man second is a success strategy.

## Success Strategies: Connection (Part 29)

NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2013 devotion series called, 'Success Strategies.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you're not a performer, don't be deterred. In truth, every disciple acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
