Success Strategies (Part 1)
The Table Of Media
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Psalm 23:5-6 (NKJV)
Consider media as the world's largest table. To wary Christians, it's a gluttonous gathering. The conduct of the servers and diners is suspect. But the food is rich, diverse and attractively presented. The drinks are intoxicating, and the entertainment--even more so.

It's a no-holds-barred film, fashion, music and theater extravaganza.

The ticket price is small. One pass gives unlimited entry. On the back of the pass is life-altering fine print. Sooner or later, the real price becomes known, and it's staggering. Nevertheless, the world's stars are there--and all who follow them.

The party planner is Satan, and he's had a ball. But the Owner of the ball (called Earth) is God. He's issuing a new invitation. It's a callout to His performers. No ticket is required. Once inside media's fields, they play for the King. Fans are intrigued by God's new stars.

God's players dine in the presence of their enemies: media royalty who previously snubbed them. As surely as goodness and mercy shall follow them, success does, too.

'All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God' (Deuteronomy 28:2).

But pause and consider one warning. It flashes with urgency. We serve an IF... THEN... God.* The IF part concerns obedience, love and His Son. The THEN part concerns success.

Today, the table of media has grown to seat billions of people. His performers are featured guests -- anointed in God's purpose.

To Be Continued...

*Prosperity preachers would have us forget the 'if' part and focus on the 'then' part, but God doesn't work that way. All Scriptures must be read in context.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
