Success Strategies (Part 16)
Foundational Humility
If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
Thus says the Lord God: 'Remove the turban, and take off the crown; Nothing shall remain the same. Exalt the humble, and humble the exalted.'
Ezekiel 21:26 (NKJV)
And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23:12 (NKJV)
Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility.
Proverbs 18:12 (NKJV)
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility.
Proverbs 15:33 (NKJV)
'Before honor is humility' is said twice in Proverbs. 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' is repeated three times in the Gospels.* This truth of God is found in both the Old and New Testaments. But do we believe it? Do we follow it? The world certainly doesn't.

Consider this Scripture: 'I can of Myself do nothing' or 'I can do nothing on My Own initiative' (John 5:30 NKJV and NAS). In His voluntary limitations as a Man, Jesus confirmed that His power to do great works came only from God's Holy Spirit.

Now consider this: 'Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, 'All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours' ' (Luke 4:5-7).

Here's what I think: God owns all power. Without power, we can do nothing significant. We exist with no impact. For reasons only God understands, He has given Satan temporary power on Earth: power to promote, power to give worldly glory.

Therefore, our sources for power and glory come from God or Satan--not ourselves. We may think our talent or hard work is responsible for our success. I don't agree. I think all success comes from God or Satan--and success by the Hand of God is built upon a foundation of humility.

Therein, foundational humility is a must-have strategy for godly success.

* Matthew 23:12, Luke 14:11, Luke 18:14 and consider Matthew 18:4.
