Success Strategies (Part 16)
If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
Thus says the Lord God: 'Remove the turban, and take off the crown; Nothing shall remain the same. Exalt the humble, and humble the exalted.'
Ezekiel 21:26 (NKJV)
And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23:12 (NKJV)
Before honor is humility.
Proverbs 15:33, 18:12 (NKJV)
'Before honor is humility' is said twice in Proverbs. 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' is said three times in the Gospels.* This humbling truth spans both Testaments. But do we believe it? Do we follow it? The world certainly doesn't.

Consider this Scripture: 'I can of Myself do nothing' (John 5:30). In His voluntary limitations as a Man, Jesus confirmed His power to do great works came only from God's Spirit.

Now consider this offer: 'Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, 'All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours' ' (Luke 4:5-7).

Here's what I think: God owns all power. Without power, we can do nothing (significant). We exist without impact. For reasons only God fully understands, He has given Satan temporary power on Earth, including the authority to promote people.

Therefore, I believe earthly promotions come from God or Satan - and not our own brilliance.

But for those of us who choose God, success is built on the foundation of our humility.

Therein, humility is mandatory for godly success.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
