But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the Word with a noble and good heart, keep It and bear fruit with patience.
By your patience possess your souls.
Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
Too often, hearing about patience is like a nice sermon we soon forget. Then we're on to our next agenda item of seemingly urgent concern. But our only urgent concern should be God, and His agenda for us--as opposed to ours for Him.
Do any of us pray like this? 'Dear Lord: Here is what I need to do today... These things are very important to me. I ask for Your help--in Jesus' Name.'
Such a prayer places the cart (we as disciples who carry His message) before the Captain on a great white stallion Who directs and empowers us.
It's a back-sided plea asking God to yield His plan to ours. Picture cart wheels spinning in the mud. A better prayer might be:
'Dear Lord, I am Yours, and I will follow You. Lead me today: where to go, who to see and what to say. I understand my job on Earth is to do Your work, act like Christ and leave a legacy. I may not see the fruit of my work today--or even in my lifetime. But I know You see it, and it is beautiful. Help me increase in wisdom, stature and favor with You first--and man second. Remove from me the immaturity of impatience and replace it with far-reaching faith in Your long-term vision. I believe it will be fulfilled at the perfect time. Thank You for the work You are doing in my life, and all the lives around me...'
Actors, models and talent for Christ: many top stars showed great patience in their walk through the entertainment industry. They humbled themselves, practiced their roles and waited for promotion.
Don't let them outperform you by your show of impatience. Because you are supposed to be teaching them the ways of God--not vice versa.
Both God and man promote people with patience. Therein, patience is a success strategy.
