Suffering (Part 46)
Devastation: Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego
Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, 'Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up? Now if you are ready... and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?'
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, 'O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.'
Daniel 3:14-18 (NKJV)
Possibly, you've faced a fiery furnace. Nothing I've felt has been nearly so hot.
But Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, the boys brought to Babylon with Daniel, came face-to-face with their own destruction. When they wouldn't bow down to his idol, King Nebuchadnezzar's anger got lit. So his guards threw them in a great oven, heated seven times hotter than normal.
Yet in a spectacular miracle, the king saw the Lord standing in their midst. In other words, God took the heat for them, as He would later take the heat for us. These heroes emerged from the fire unscathed. Their politically incorrect words have inspired millions for thousands of years.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Some of you survived devastations, and you've remained private about them. I am awed by your courage to rise, but how you've risen needs to be heard. The God Who stood right alongside you, the King Who felt your pain, should be praised.
Your awesome overcoming stories can inspire millions of fans today. Suffering makes you relatable, since everyone has suffered something. Surely, the God Who delivered you wants to deliver others as well. But how can they know He's standing by... if you don't share your fiery trials?
To Be Continued...
