Suffering (Part 8)
Abuse: Little Children
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.

Mark 9:42 (NKJV)
People were bringing little children to Jesus for Him to place His Hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'

Mark 10:13-14 (NIV)
Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His Arms, He said to them, 'Whoever receives one of these little children in My Name receives Me.'

Mark 9:36-37 (NKJV)
The worldwide abuse of little children crosses all economic, historic, national and cultural boundaries. For people of good conscience everywhere, child abuse is a heart wrenching problem.

While struggling kids in earth's poorer nations endure poverty, abuse and neglect, richer countries shouldn't get complacent. Despicable tragedies still happen behind closed doors in the plushest places.*

Clearly, children are special to Jesus. He not only identifies with them, but also cherishes their innocence. Their faith, simplicity, and lack of guile are entry cards to the kingdom of God.**

Why children suffer is a tough question. People wiser than I offer answers.*** Still, I choose to believe God, in that... 1) He hates their torment and children will rise; 2) He will avenge evil and perps will fall.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
