The Call To Overcome: If Jesus Overcame Satan...
When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His Right Hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His Right Hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.'
Matthew 25:31-34 (NKJV)
If Jesus overcame Satan, If He gave us 'The Victory' (1 Corinthians 15:57, NIV), then why does our adversary, the devil, still strut 'Like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour' (1 Peter 5:8, NKJV)? *

If Jesus 'Disarmed principalities and powers' and 'Made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them' (Colossians 2:15, NKJV), then why are we still tormented by evil?

Consider: If Jesus came back while the first disciples lived (which many early Christians believed), then how many people might have died without knowing the Truth? Without seeing a better way?

Consider also: If Jesus comes back in a handful of years (which many current Christians believe), then how many people still haven't met the Truth? Or seen a better way?

Actors, models and talent for Christ: you know The Way, and you must be seen. Because our Father 'Desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth' (1 Timothy 2:4, NASB).

Concerning His second coming: 'The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance' (2 Peter 3:9, NASB).

When Jesus returns, He will separate us. 'Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division' (Luke 12:51, NKJV).

Yet in a mighty movement, here you come: sailing on the airwaves of media, starring in earth's final scenes. Toward men, you act in love: compassionate witnesses of He Who is good, standing strong and bright on a very dark stage. Toward demons, you act in armor: terrifying warriors of He Who is fierce, overcoming lies by speaking truth.**

God awaits your worldwide performance, 'And the gates of Hades will not overcome it' (Matthew 16:18, NIV).

## The Call To Overcome: If Jesus Overcame Satan... (Part 7)

* 'Jesus, The Divider' (article):

** Jesus did defeat Satan. Until He returns to evict him, Jesus gave us power in His Name: 'Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you' (Luke 10:19).

** In the meantime, He also gave us defensive and offensive weaponry, including The Armor of God:

NOTE: This is a republished edit of a 2014 devotion series, 'The Call To Overcome.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you're not a performer, don't be deterred. In truth, every disciple acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
