The Choice
Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...
Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)
Are you a leader or a follower?

Leadership is an actor's destiny. Consider the depth of the word: actor. It means you take ACTION (when others don't).

You stand up while others sit down and watch.
You speak up when others remain silent.
You lead via arts and entertainment,
You understand the reason you were born.

As a modern media influencer, friends and fans will follow your every move- on stage, but more influentially, off. When they see your love, joy, peace and kindness, you present your Savior indirectly... opening a life-saving choice for them.

But as your fame expands, don't get puffed up.

Although you made the greatest Choice (Jesus), you'll face dozens of choices every day:

Some seem small, like what to eat, wear or say.
Others seem large, like accepting a role.

What to remember? Every choice matters. Every choice leads toward God... or away. Every choice furthers His plan...or your own.

What else to know? You're a follower, too. Surely of Christ! But what people are your influencers?

Perhaps celebrities or directors. Perhaps bosses, friends, teachers or mentors.

In the case of following outsiders, be careful. Guard your heart diligently.

In the case of following insiders, seek humility and transparency: so much so that you can see straight through them... to the One they should closely resemble.

If you can't see the good path beyond them,
If you can't see the good acts behind them,
Make new a choice and move to higher ground.

## The Choice

NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
