The Curtain Rises
Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
Isaiah 54:2 (NKJV)
For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ... But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:14,18 (NKJV)
In 2nd Corinthians Chapter 3, Paul compares the glory of the Old Covenant with the 'Much more glorious' (v.11) New Covenant. Relatively speaking, he calls the Old Testament a 'Ministry of Death' (v.7) and a 'Ministry of Condemnation' (v.9). Even today, Old Testament Christians hurl heavy stones toward earth's unchurched.
Although the Old Testament's Ten Commandments were a life-defining gift, 'How will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?' (v.8). Jesus Christ changed everything. Upon His death...
'The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised' (Matthew 27:51-52).
In today's key Scripture, 'Let them stretch our curtains' (Isaiah 54:2), consider one Bible scholar's comment: 'The idea is, that the boundaries of the church were to be greatly enlarged, in order to accommodate the vast accession from the pagan world' (Barnes' Notes on the Bible).
Now consider a curtain rising on actors, models, and talent for Christ. 'Because the veil is taken away in Christ.' 'For it is the God Who commanded light to shine out of darkness, Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ' (2 Corinthians 4:6).
You are the face of Jesus Christ. You are the truth tellers. You are the standard-bearers. You are the light to shine out of darkness. You are a new generation of Christians. Through you, graves open. Sleeping eyes open. You won't star in a fake show of 'True Blood,' but in a real show: the Blood of the Christ.
Stars of God: the curtain rises on your performance. Enter Stage Right.
