The Devil's Workshop
We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NAS)
'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' Truth lives in this old saying. When we aren't exercising our minds constructively, wrong thoughts can cover us like spider webs in forgotten places.
If our minds become the devil's workshop, the 'houses' of our lives become ruined.
Therefore, Satan wants our minds, because that's the action center. Combine a lack of vigilance in guarding our minds with the effects of media, and the result? We find ourselves surrounded by a cobweb of lies appropriately titled the 'worldwide web.'
But God has not left the media. Consider its oldest forms: books and letters. Joyce Meyer's signature book, 'Battlefield of the Mind,' helped bring me to Christ. As I read about Satan's schemes, the Carpenter began tearing them down.
A 2011 best seller, 'Heaven is Real,' comes from the mind of a child. But didn't Jesus say, 'Wisdom is justified by all her children' (Luke 7:35)?
But if good books are like the 'Still small voice' (1 Kings 19:12) of God, bad music and videos are like megaphones on the mouth of evil.
Enter Stage Right: actors, models, and talent for Christ. Microphones fall into ready hands of performing saints like Scotty McCreery. Sound stages open for Christian productions like COURAGEOUS and Soul Surfer. Talk shows promote hosts like Sherri Shepherd.
Because God calls us His 'Workmanship' (Ephesians 2:10), 'With Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone' (Ephesians 2:20), 'Being built up' to 'A spiritual house' (1 Peter 2:5), even 'The temple of God' (1 Corinthians 3:16) in 'The likeness of His resurrection' (Romans 6:5)...
His performers are blowing the roof off of Satan's biggest workshop--entertainment.
But Father, let the web stay in position a little while longer; let it broadcast the truth, as idle minds are transformed into the 'Mind of Christ' (1 Corinthians 2:16) in unprecedented numbers.
Light has entered the devil's workshop.
