The enemy's game got under way when Satan got full of himself. As 'The seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty' (Ezekiel 28:12), he began to think these gifts were his own and He knew better than God.
God said, 'Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor' (Ezekiel 28:17). When his wisdom grew tainted, Satan grew dissatisfied. He instigated a rebellion among the angels.
The reasons for his rebellion seem focused around us. Since angels preceded men, why did God give us favor? Since His angels are wiser, stronger, undying servants, why did God make us
in His Image to one day rule them? *
When Satan and his team lost their power play against God, they were kicked out of Heaven and reassigned to our world. Since their damned arrival, they targeted earth's citizens. Then Jesus came and bested the bullies on our behalf. But why does God still allow their evil machinations?
Only God knows everything, but perhaps to test our hearts; to unite us as a team true to salvation's Captain; to fight fearlessly for the lives of the fans still watching; to inspire our lukewarm brethren to rise along with us.
This much we can see: Satan has temporary control. He runs big fields, including the games of entertainment. We also know Jesus won the big play once and for all. He left us His Spirit, His Name and a Great Commission.
Soon, He's coming back to evict the bad guys completely. But until that Day, believers must embrace God's game plan.
