The Enemy's Game (Part 44)
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name to all nations.
Luke 24:47 (NKJV)
Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.
John 20:21 (NKJV)
A commission is an order with the authority granted for its action. Christians know they have a Great Commission, but It's not only in Matthew and Mark. At the end of the Books of Luke and John, Jesus issues additional Orders.
Through four Books, He tells us to Go! Go! Go! If our commission is a baseball game, and you hit a line drive, Jesus coaches...
Run through second and third. You'll make it home. You can wake up the team and win the game. Go and give everyone Good News to share!
Satan coaches the reverse: Stay! Stay! Stay! Stay on first. Don't risk running the bases. You might shake up the team and lose the game. Hostile fans and bad press could ruin you.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Going forth is not a part-time gig. Going forth is a lifetime Order.* The big risk is not getting an out. It's refusing to run the bases. If our work is like a baseball game, we're now in the bottom of the 9th.
The scoreboard is not in our favor. Team Jesus has grown plump and cautious. With lip service to our Manager, we've slacked off our exercise routines. Our passion to win has gone AWOL.** Didn't Jesus already win it? Can't we pray at home and hang with friends?
For top athletes, playing requires work. Without it, we can be benched or fired. 'Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed... work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God Who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure' (Philippians 2:12-13).
To do, do, do means to go, go, go. When fans see you trying your hardest, especially in a world series, your valiant run will win many hearts. Isn't that the real score anyway?
