The Enemy's Game (Part 45)
Countermeasures: Courage*
Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, 'Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is the One Who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.'
Deuteronomy 31:7-8 (NKJV)
Be strong and of good courage.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)
Be strong and of good courage.
Joshua 1:6 (NKJV)
Only be strong and very courageous...
Joshua 1:7 (NKJV)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)
If Hollywood looks like a giant, if this giant blusters and curses, if he seems to be unbeatable, if everyone begs for his favor, if Christians enter his stomping ground, if he belittles them on the field, then we know why Saul's army was scared...

Why experienced soldiers stepped back and watched a shepherd boy come forward.

If the Promised Land had more giants, if its cities were big and mighty, if their walls were tall like Jericho's, If God's children had spied out their strongholds, if the great leader, Moses, just died, then we know why Joshua felt fear...

Why God encouraged him frequently and watched this humble man come forward.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: No matter how big Hollywood looks, no matter the spread of media, no matter its lusts and temptations, you're called like David and Joshua.

Maybe David was too young to fear. He had experienced God's power, and ran with the confidence of youth. But Joshua had seen many things. He also witnessed God's miracles, and stood strong when the standing was hard.

Even so, he stood behind Moses. When he was called up to lead God's charge, even though he felt inadequate, or because he felt inadequate, God promised to guide him without fail. So don't let stage fright keep you at home. Only be strong and of good courage.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
