The Enemy's Game (Part 53)
Countermeasures: Respect
Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.
Mark 12:17 (NKJV)
Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
1 Peter 2:17 (NKJV)
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Romans 13:1 (NKJV)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: if you're media missionaries, talented ambassadors for Christ, performers who give glory to God, messengers who bring Good News to fans, examples of a new kind of joy, then respect the culture you enter.

Like Joseph when taken to Egypt, like Daniel and friends in Babylon, like Esther with the king of Persia, like Jesus amidst Roman warlords, like Paul among Greek academics,* respect the laws of foreign leaders.

Certainly, you can't expect to play on the crucial fields of media if you ignore or condemn their rules. Every heroic missionary, called to governments throughout the world, first respected their resident kings.

Sadly, some Christians have forgotten the precedent of God's trailblazers. Because they have condemned Hollywood, you must be unusually kind and markedly different from them.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: every game has terms of engagement. Every new player has dues to pay, and even Jesus gave to Caesar. Because the Lord allowed him to reign.

Therefore, become as shrewd as serpents, but remain as innocent as doves.** Before your time, powerful kingdoms were transformed by the acts of God's stars. They adapted in pagan nations and played earth's games exceedingly well.

Yet they never sold out their Big Boss, nor did they forget His top two Rules:

'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself' (Luke 10:27).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
