The Enemy's Game (Part 56)
Countermeasures: Discretion
Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you.
Proverbs 2:11 (NKJV)
As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
Proverbs 11:22 (NKJV)
Discretion is knowing just the right words to say or saying nothing. Discretion is respecting privacy when publicity would harm.*

When Noah drank too much wine, two of his sons covered his nakedness. When Mordecai ordered it, Esther covered her Jewish heritage. When God's spies hit Jericho, Rahab covered them in a pile of flax. When Jesus lived as a Man, He covered His royalty.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: God says all secrets will be revealed, but He likes to decide when and how. Jesus said, 'My time has not yet come' (John 7:6), because God was His earthly Prompter. He spoke when and how His Father said.

Today, we text, tweet and Instagram. We want to publicize everything, even harmful things about others. Discretion is yesterday's virtue, while we spread rumors like mean children.

If we see big mouths as attractive, God sees through every bad makeup job. If lovely girls without discretion are like a herd of dressed-up piglets, then how we act reveals how we look.

In God's Hand-written Book of Beauty, 'Love covers a multitude of sins' (1 Peter 4:8). So let's cover our mouths more often, cover our friends when necessary,* and cover our enemies with love. Enemy score: zero. Our team won.**

* 'How you handle someone else's area of vulnerability determines how God handles yours' (Jentezen Franklin): http://www.jentezenfranklin.org/dealing-with-other-peoples-failures/

** Covering our friends does not include covering up anything that would, could or did harm someone else. It does not include covering up misdeeds that require justice. For instance, take a look at The Sin of Achan in the Book of Joshua: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua+7%3A10-26&version=NKJV
