The Enemy's Game (Part 8)
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44 (NASB)
But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:3 (NASB)
Bad apples hide among the good. Bad yeast disguises its odor. Bad tares look similar to wheat. Bad teachers speak in proud wisdom. What do they all have in common? Lies of pretension wreak havoc.
The father of lies has a formula: 1) Mix nine parts truth with one part deception. 2) Cloak the evil with plenty of goodness. 3) Weave them together with great precision. 4) Present the product with authority. 5) Recruit believers with false promises.
6) Spark their passion with heated persuasion. 7) Watch it spread like a forest fire through trees. 8) Reject those who bring God's Living Water. 9) Enjoy the aroma of dying dreams. 10) Offer to replant lost hopes with his own.
Sadly, this formula is widely used. It's in politics and entertainment. It's in advertising and retail sales. It's even in some popular churches.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Although media boasts countless lies and people of conscience feel surrounded, consider one positive result: today's youth are savvy about hype. They hate lies and can smell a phony.
So if the Truth of God lives in you, if you jump on earth's stages and screens, then you'll be sincerely different. Like a breath of fresh air in thick smoke, like a ray of bright light in the dark, like a straight forward line to the Lord, you've beaten the deceiver's best game.
