The Enemy's Game: Tactics--Diversion
A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come, for all things are now ready.' But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.' And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.' Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' So that servant came and reported these things to his master.

Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.' And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.' Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.'
Luke 14:16-24 (NKJV)
Among the world's most developed nations, the U.S. holds earth's busiest people,* the most Christians--and the second most Jews.** This stronghold of Jehovah believers makes America Satan's top target.

Therefore, the land of the free isn't free. Instead, it's bound by trivial pursuits: too much work and ceaseless entertainment.

As we're focused on our personal goals, as we're confined by our family's needs, as we're seduced in our endless desires, as we're burdened under substantial loads, as we're consumed with our daily To Do's, will a ruthless deceiver consume us?***

Even church can become a distraction. God's people in Ephesus felt that sting.**** Although they labored unremittingly, Jesus said their first Love was left behind. His advice? 'Repent and do the first works' (Revelation 2:5, NKJV).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Your first work is to represent God, while you enter earth's busiest field, the one Satan built to distract us: the industry of entertainment. But this industry is your doorway.

Like God's people crossing the Jordan, you enter the land of promises: the gates and towers of media. But on your way, don't get diverted.

NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2015 devotion series called, 'The Enemy's Game.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you're not a performer, don't be deterred. In truth, every disciple acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
