The Enemy's Game: Tactics--Growling
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a ROARING lion, seeking someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8 (NASB)
The Philistine said to David, 'Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!'
1 Samuel 17:44 (NKJV)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: In the enemy's life and death games, games most people do not understand, one of his strategies is growling...
Like taunting words from brutal bullies or put-down insults from dream haters. They may spew out from the mouths of men, but they start in the mind of Satan.
For deep-in-the-Spirit believers, the armor of God will protect them. They must speak It on by faithful words.* But if they forget and then get hit, consider three godly counter-moves:
1) Speak truth back to the persecutor: 'Every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn' (Isaiah 54:17, NKJV).** Do it kindly, but refute the lie.
2) Return love to those who give you hate: 'Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you' (Matthew 5:44, NIV). The shock effect can cause repentance.***
3) If curses come inside your own mind, causing you agony just the same, perhaps a demon is behind them. So recite God's Words and he must leave.****
Jesus exampled all three actions, but here's one thing we must remember: By God, bullies are destined to fall, so don't believe their frightening words.

** ' 'No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,'
Says the Lord' (Isaiah 54:17, NKJV).
** Bible commentary on Isaiah 54:17: 'Thou shalt condemn; disprove and roll off the calumny, refute the charge and accusation, put to silence the clamours and pretences of wicked men, carry the cause against them, and shake off the yoke of bondage they would bring them under; and, instead of being condemned by them, condemn them. By "weapon" may be meant all the attempts made by force to ruin the interest and church of Christ in the world...' (Gill's Exposition): http://biblehub.com/commentaries/isaiah/54-17.htm
*** 'But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head' (Romans 12:20, NKJV).
*** Bible commentary on Romans 12:20: 'Burning coals heaped on a man's head would be expressive of intense agony. So the apostle says that the 'effect' of doing good to an enemy would be to produce pain. But the pain will result from shame, remorse of conscience, a conviction of the evil of his conduct... if Christians would meet all unkindness with kindness, all malice with benevolence, and all wrong with right, peace would soon pervade the community, and even opposition to the Gospel might soon die away' (Barnes Notes on the Bible): http://biblehub.com/commentaries/romans/12-20.htm
*** Additional Bible commentary on Romans 12:20: 'By so doing, his conscience would be stung with a sense of former injuries done to his benefactor, and he be filled with shame on account of them, and be brought to repentance for them, and to love the person he before hated, and be careful of doing him any wrong for the future' (Gill's Exposition): http://biblehub.com/commentaries/romans/12-20.htm
