The Evidence Of Faith
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
It is written, 'But without faith, it is impossible to please Him' (Hebrews 11:6). What right-minded person doesn't want to please God? The benefits are enormous. They are everything. They are life, love, peace, purpose, passion, and foundational joy.

The Bible speaks of faith constantly, so the word 'faith' and the act of faith call for study. Smart people go to school to get advanced degrees in every imaginable subject, but knowledge is meaningless without faith. Sadly, most people give it little thought.

But we are not most people. We are God's people. He asks for faith.

Hebrews 11:1 gives a biblical definition: Faith is 'substance.' The dictionary defines 'substance' as 'reality, the actual matter of a thing, body.' Therefore, faith is the physical manifestation of things hoped for. How is that possible? How can faith have a body and hope be seen?

Jesus Christ was the human manifestation of faith. He could be seen and touched. He was the substance of things hoped for.

Since Jesus currently lives in Heaven, how can faith be seen today? Through you! You are the body of Christ. How do you present your faith, your evidence, to God and to man? Since God is a God of action, the Bible an action book, and faith itself an action--you must 'act' your faith.

Therefore, actors, models, and talent for Christ enter the explosion of entertainment Stage Right. The evidence of your faith is your performance--both on stage and off. It is your witness. Without preaching, you are teaching by the excellence of your example.

You have been set up by God at a pivotal point in the history of the world, a time when bad is bold, a time when good must be bolder. Where better to be bold than in media?

Since varying degrees of undercover ops are S.O.P. for God's people in a foreign land, wear your cloak of humility at all times--except in actual performance. When the spotlight hits you, double whammy. You shine from the inside out and the outside in.

You shine with God's true light. This is the evidence of your faith.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
