The Occult (Part 3)
For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived.
Revelation 18:23 (NKJV)
Merchants, the great men of the earth, spin the media without mercy--to gain your money, time, and favor. The media is also Satan's #1 device to desensitize, sanctify, and glamorize the occult.

God tells us to run from harm. 'Flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness' (1 Timothy 6:11). 'A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless' (Proverbs 14:16). Who in his right mind wants to see or live with a demon?

Millions of media addicts. Since the average person watches television over six hours a day, our children grow up with witches, wizards, vampires, mediums, and ghost stories. A daily dose of magic dulls our ability to hear God's Word, much less heed His warnings.

Add in video games that invite restless kids to learn killing and being killed thousands of times. These same kids become either young predators or prey, believing life is cheap, that lust and violence are necessary adult behaviors, and that the occult provides not only entertainment--but the power to escape a confusing and overwhelming world.

Today's entertainment industry fosters confusion. By putting beautiful faces on witches and vampires, media-meisters transform demons into darlings. They become 'Like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean' (Matthew 23:27).

Even more, Satan covers the consequences of occult involvement with happy endings. But Satan doesn't get to write the endings.

God does, and happy with the occult He is not.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
