Trailblazers (Part 12)
Take High Roads
Strengthen the weak hands,

And make firm the feeble knees.

Say to those who are fearful-hearted,

'Be strong, do not fear!

Behold, your God will come with vengeance,

With the recompense of God;

He will come and save you.'

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,

And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Then the lame shall leap like a deer,

And the tongue of the dumb sing.

For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,

And streams in the desert.

The parched ground shall become a pool,

And the thirsty land springs of water;

In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,

There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

A highway shall be there, and a road,

And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.

The unclean shall not pass over it,

But it shall be for others.

Whoever walks the road, although a fool,

Shall not go astray.

No lion shall be there,

Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;

It shall not be found there.

But the redeemed shall walk there...
Isaiah 35:3-9 (NKJV)
Heralding the arrival of Jesus was John the Baptist: 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God' ' (Isaiah 40:3).

Heralding the return of Jesus is the movement of actors, models and talent for Christ: 'Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you' (Isaiah 60:1). Your job?

'Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!' (Isaiah 62:10).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: As God's messengers, your station is communication. Those who are deaf must hear His Voice. Those who are lost must spot your act. Those who are mad must feel your calm. Those who are sad must know your hope. Those who are stuck must grab your hand.

For this to happen, you must rise: certainly on stages and screens, but much more, in your behavior. Your performance in media is a necessary hook. But your actions off camera will draw your fans to the Book. His Name is Jesus.

So when you have a choice to make, take the high road. When you're insulted, choose not to argue. When you face temptation, choose another way. When someone hurts you, choose to forgive him. When you're offered roles, choose them carefully. When you're dressing up, choose to look cleaner.

When given high seats, sit with the humble. When given great praise, pass the glory to God. When others won't give, you give Him your all. When brethren won't go, you answer, 'Send Me.'

When paths can't be seen, you cut down the brush: 'Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway' (Jeremiah 31:21)...

Because you are trailblazers.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
