Trailblazers (Part 20)
Face Every Foe
Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 (NKJV)
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Ephesians 6:13 (NASB)
When evil grows among us, resistance must grow stronger. When lies are spoken as truth, men of conscience refute them. When children are bought and sold, men of courage step forward. When darkness covers the earth, God's people must rise and shine.

Consider one thing God's Word and man's world have in common: tough guys fight. They don't hide behind closed doors and pretend the monster isn't there. They may be safe for a minute, but he's reeking havoc elsewhere. He's gaining power, while weak guys cower.

I'm re-studying WW2. That's just what happened. Except for a few town criers (like Winston Churchill), Adolph Hitler was ignored. He was ignored during Jewish genocide. He was ignored while he invaded nations. People of power turned away, and twelve years of hell came to earth.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Obviously, the church made a mistake when it ignored Hollywood. 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2) flew unrestricted: spinning millions of fairy tales into a worldwide web. He calls it entertainment, and he's laughing most of all.

As trailblazers following Jesus, remember two things:

1) Your enemy is spiritual, not physical. Toward Hollywood, you're unusually Good News. With exceptional talent and better behavior, you gain stages and spotlights. You hit high notes. You hit with love: non-judgmental, truth-inviting, death-defying love. But your faces must be seen in this battlefield.

2) You can't kill Satan. His final eviction is Jesus' job. But with the power of God, you can subdue him. You can face him and move forward: 'Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you' (Luke 10:19).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
