Trailblazers (Part 5)
Enlighten Lost Adults *
My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray.
Jeremiah 50:6 (NASB)
I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick.
Ezekiel 34:16 (NASB)
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
Most often, lost children become lost adults. I was one. We live in uncertainty.

We're uncertain of life's purpose or plan, uncertain if love can be trusted, uncertain of what we should value, uncertain of where we are going, uncertain if wealth will sustain us, uncertain of what makes us happy, uncertain how to know what is true, and uncertain if we'll fail in the end.

We travel from distraction to diversion. We eat, drink, sit, run, shop, work, worry, argue, party, lie or get high like there's no tomorrow. Because we don't know if tomorrow exists. We pin our hopes on a person, job or plan, but even the best of donkeys don't like their tails to be pinned.

To us, silence is not golden. It's dangerous. Unanswerable questions assail us. Unfightable foes surround us.

To us, Christians are hypocrites: big talkers and fake walkers who pretend they are holier than us.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: How can you reach lost adults? Certainly, you can find us, because we're everywhere. You'll know us by our fruits: anger, depression, worry, impatience, intolerance, meanness, faithlessness, hardness and lack of self-control.

So, here's how to reach us. Blaze a new trail of behavior. Come into our world and show us the fruit of the Holy Spirit: 'Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness' (and) 'self-control' (Galatians 5:22-23). Give us hope.

Not only is there is no law against these desperately needed deliveries, they are like beacons and lighthouses: undeniable lamps calling to the lost. Understand two things:

1) Most of us want to be found.

2) Sooner or later, we'll ask the reason for the hope you carry.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
