Trailblazers (Part 9)
Study The Map
Your Word is a Lamp to my feet and a Light to my path.
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
So now you can pick out what's true and fair,

Find all the good trails!

Lady Wisdom will be your close friend,

And Brother Knowledge your pleasant companion.

Good Sense will scout ahead for danger,

Insight will keep an eye out for you.

They'll keep you from making wrong turns,

Or following the bad directions

Of those who are lost themselves

And can't tell a trail from a tumbleweed...

Proverbs 2:9-15 (The Message)
To say I am sold-out on God's Word is an understatement: I follow behind It like a Trail Guide, because It is; I cling to It like a Life Preserver, because It is; I run into It like a strong Fortress, because It is; I swallow It like a Vitamin Pill, because It is; I defend It as the last Word on earth, because It is.

I could go on and on about His Word's worth, because I should. But if you admire the king named David, He did it first. 'The Law of Your Mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver' (Psalm 119:72); 'I will walk in Your truth' (Psalm 86:11); 'I will run the course of Your Commandments' (Psalm 119:32).*

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Your #1 Script is Scripture. Your finest Director is God. Your acting Coach is His Spirit. Your Star to copy is Jesus. Your plot Line is His Commission. Your talent is His property. Your airtime is for His increase. Your job is to bring Him glory. Your off set performance is key.

But how can you blaze a trail through the muck of media without the fire of His Holy Spirit? Considering the power of the dragon's empire, I don't think a disconnected Christian stands a chance. But with Jesus, you stand more than a chance. You're in the winning lane. Just follow Him and hold the course.

Here's the thing: If your course in media is a marathon, if a marathon uses markers for guidance, then your lighted Markers are the Words of His Book. So study His Lines daily. They will keep you safe and on track.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
