Valiant! Like David: Knowledge
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because you have forgotten the Law of your God,
I also will forget your children.
Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)
The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge,
And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Proverbs 18:15 (NKJV)
If wisdom is 'knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action'... if knowledge is 'acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study' (Random House Dictionary), then King David had wisdom and knowledge.
Because David made God's wisdom his mission to seek--and God's knowledge his business to learn.
But David also studied the world around him. He knew sheep and their needs. He knew music and its power. He knew family and its limits. He knew Saul and his challenges. He knew Jonathan and his friendship.
He knew prophets and their guidance. He knew advisors and their counsel. He knew betrayers and their treachery. He knew sin and its consequence. He knew defeat and its sadness. He knew victory and its joy. David knew Israel and its destiny.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: like David, like Jesus, you must continue 'Increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men' (Luke 2:52). To accomplish this mighty work, you need wisdom and knowledge from both--for both. Of course, God is first!
'Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you' (Matthew 6:33). Even so, this truth does not negate your need to know the mission field of entertainment. It necessitates it.
Because God has anointed its kings, you need to know them, too. So learn their laws and customs. Find their needs and fill them. God will give you favor in their land, but embrace your homework and do your field work--from small jobs to big ones.
As Moses did, David did, Paul did and even Jesus did--so you must do.
## Valiant Like David: Knowledge (Part 21)
NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2014 series called, Valiant Like David. In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Valiant! Like David series.
