Destiny comes from a Latin word, destinare, which means 'to make firm or establish.' David's earthly destiny was to establish the nation of Israel: 'Your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you' (2 Samuel 7:16). David's eternal destiny was to establish the dynasty of Jesus.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: 'In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him Who works all things according to the counsel of His will' (Ephesians 1:11). What is your inheritance? Nothing less than Heaven by way of Jesus. What is your purpose here and now?
'Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness will cover the earth
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the Lord will rise upon you
And His glory will appear upon you.
Nations will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising' (Isaiah 60:1-3).
What about the flying beast of media? The one that circles the earth? The one the spews a stream of smoke and lies? As performers, how do you get through it? Why did God allow it?
His Book says 'All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose' (Romans 8:28). Even the muck of idol worship spun into a worldwide web.
But can actors, models and talent for Christ survive and thrive within it? 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26). Even your success in the mission field of media.
Consider it: God allowed construction of the communication technology that now connects us. The enemy intended it for harm, but 'God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives' (Genesis 50:20). The lifeguards? You! Actors, models and talent for Christ riding high on the airwaves of media.
The Word of God is your Surfboard. On It, you move through earth's channels and do not go under... because riding high is your safety. Shining brightly is your duty. Carrying truth is your destiny.
