To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law, that I might win those who are under the Law; to those who are without Law, as without Law (not being without Law toward God, but under Law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without Law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
Paul was a Pharisee, Jew, Christian, persecutor, victim, tentmaker, teacher, rich man, poor man, free man, prisoner, defender of the faith and defendant in the courts. He was all things to all men that he might by all means save some. Paul was a player. Paul was an actor. Paul was versatile.
David was a shepherd, musician, writer, composer, performer, armor-bearer, giant-killer, soldier, hero, fugitive, outcast, madman, cave-dweller, palace-builder, husband, father, brother, loner, uniter, administrator and king. He was a repentant sinner and a triumphant saint. David was versatile.
Jesus is 'The Lamb of God' (John 1:36), 'The Good Shepherd' (John 10:11), 'The Faithful Witness' (Revelation 1:5), 'The Captain of... Salvation' (Hebrews 2:10), 'The Carpenter' (Mark 6:3), 'The Bridegroom' (Revelation 18:23), 'The Light' (John 12:35) and 'The Rock' (Psalm 62:7).
He is 'A Prophet' (Acts 3:22), 'A Servant' (Philippians 2:7), 'A Man of Sorrows' (Isaiah 53:3), a Healer, a Teacher and a Commander; He is 'The King of kings' (Revelation 17:14) Who washes feet. Jesus invented versatility.*
Actors, models and talent for Christ: be versatile! Don't limit yourself and don't limit God.** If you know you can sing, but don't think you can act, dance or model, think again. The industry demands versatility. God does, too.
So don't dummy yourself down or tie yourself up. Instead, let God unwrap you.
Don't be too low, high or inflexible to take the roles He offers. Some will be fun. Others will be hard. But never as hard as the Cross Christ carried.
So hang in there. Be versatile--even when it seems impossible. Because with God, it isn't. He will stretch you into the shape of the stars you are destined to become.
