Valiant! Like David: Talent
The kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability... After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.' His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Matthew 25:14-15,19-21 (NKJV)*
I believe God gave David more than five talents. We know He was handsome. That's money in the bank. We know he was a singer/songwriter--and a skilled musician. His work has been performed for over 2000 years.

We know he could act and dance. Women loved him. Men followed him. The title, triple threat, can hardly describe him... because we haven't begun to list his other talents. While David chased God, his destiny chased him. But while he waited, David wasn't idle.

Israel's greatest king invested His Lord's gifts into the world--for the glory of God and the betterment of mankind. The multiplication of the David's talents (entrusted to him by God) is unfathomable to us. His gifts keep on giving.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: David knew his talents belonged to God--as do yours. The Parable of the Talents is the last parable: a last minute, end-of-times reminder; God expects a return on His investment in you.

For such a time as this, you were created. When bad is bold, you are bolder. When the church is divided, you are united. When the world is hateful, you are loving.

You are God's flag flying in the face of evil. Many will be attracted by your talent. They will be intrigued by your kindness--and want to dig deeper.

When they do, they will find gold; they will find God. At the same time, you build your heavenly bank account: the only one that matters--that one day you will hear these Words:

'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.'

* The Parable of the Talents:

NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2014 series called, Valiant Like David. In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Valiant! Like David series.
