'Your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.'
According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: 'Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?'
To understand vision, we must understand Who's got it (God), and who doesn't (us). God is eternal. He sees yesterday, today and tomorrow. ' 'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,' says the Lord, 'Who is and Who was and Who is to come' ' (Revelation 1:8).
As for men on earth, we are a 'Vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away' (James 4:14). Compared to God, we see through pinholes. The smartest among us adjust views frequently: looking sideways and backwards--imagining tomorrow.
Because of our limitations, God gives us glimpses of eternity, pictures of the past and guidance for today. It's all in His Book.
Before Jesus came to earth, God appointed prophets with vision. His Spirit spoke through them and few others. David was one of the few. He was a man of the Spirit. Even so, God gave him prophets to help, including Samuel, Nathan and Gad. Because God decreed it, David had vision.
He envisioned a good king, and became one. He envisioned one nation under God, and united Israel. He envisioned a great capital city, and built Jerusalem. He envisioned God's Temple, and received plans. He envisioned the Messiah, Who changed everything.
By Christ's sacrifice, all men were given the opportunity to see.
For reasons known perfectly, but only to God, Satan has vision, too--and he's eager to share it.
'Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, 'All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours' (Luke 4:5-7).
Actors, models and talent for Christ: refuse the devil's vision and see through God's Eyes. See stars who confess Christ... because it's happening; see movies of faith as hits... because it's happening; see favor for Christian performers... because it's happening. Now see the reason for it all: Jesus is coming quickly.
Your role? To represent Him: to clear up the clouded picture among non-believers, because most of them have seen bad examples. So be a good one. Share His great news with everyone you can--any way that you can.
God has allowed media to be built for this reason: to show the world His vision of salvation.
