Young Leaders (Part 4)
I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.
1 John 2:14 (NKJV)
Young leaders possess strength and passion. When governed by God, they become formidable warriors and defenders of the weak. God gives them wisdom early; they are 'Quick to understand' (Daniel 1:4). The Books of Timothy are study guides.
We continue to focus on young performers in the front lines of entertainment:
5) Although media shows and tells the opposite, 'Flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness' (2 Timothy 2:22). Treat 'Younger women as sisters, in all purity' (1 Timothy 5:2). Undoubtedly, the enemy seeks to put our children into bondage. His 'party hard' propaganda has chained girls and boys to peer pressure and addictions that rob them of innocence, freedom, and truth.
But partying hard isn't the only trap. Don't forget about 'Filthy lucre' (1 Timothy 3:3), and don't take a job with money as your main gain. 'Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare... For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil' (1 Timothy 6:9-10).
Set a new example of beauty without bling, celebration without sleaze. Choose your roles in film, fashion, music, and theater by the lessons they teach. Be mindful of your example, and always consult your Manager, Who is Christ, first.
6) 'Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses' (1 Timothy 6:12). You have been cast in the biggest battlefield the world has ever known: arts and entertainment. This drama is truly 'the greatest show on earth' since Jesus was here in the flesh.
Young soldiers always lead the march. The field of media is no exception. Your worldly dress is 'the cool factor.' Your spiritual dress is 'The armor of God' (see Ephesians 6:10-18). Your worldly weapon is love. Your spiritual weapon is the Word of God. Your fighting style on both fronts is excellence, because you practice your skills daily.
