Young Leaders (Part 7, Conclusion)
I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 4:17 (NKJV)
Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, 'Young man, I say to you, arise.'
Luke 7:14 (NKJV)
The coffin is this dead world. In our small space with artificial lights, it appears alive. And for some it is, because they live in Christ. But many are blinded by screens, lamed by apathy, ostracized by society, deafened by media, deadened to suffering, and impoverished by a debt they cannot pay.
But Jesus came to change all that. While He walked this earth, miracles happened: 'The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them' (Matthew 11:5).
He's walking this earth now--through you. And He's preparing you perfectly; that young leaders 'May be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work' (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Your good work is your performance.
A new world is opening in entertainment. Even miracles. Low budget films like Fireproof and COURAGEOUS are scoring high profits. Hollywood studios are opening faith divisions. Christians are gaining top spots in secular shows.
For the first time in almost 50 years, it's beginning to be 'cool' to be a Christian in entertainment. Thanks Tim. Thanks Jeremy. Thanks Justin. Thanks Kylie. Thanks Sherri. Thanks to all the popular stars who are vocal about their faith.
Millions of people are awakening to a new life, to a freedom they have never known, to a future better than any story-book ending.
Therefore and finally:
11) Arise: 'Young man, I say to you, arise' (Luke 7:14). 'I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, Who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching' (2 Timothy 4:1-2).
Preaching, convincing, rebuking, exhorting, and teaching are coming from His young leaders in media. Through parables in film, television, and theater. Through performances by His stars.
They are rising.
