Your Inner Circle
And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James.
Mark 5:37 (NAS)
Six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them.
Mark 9:2 (NAS)
Jesus had an inner circle among His disciples. He loved all of them as family; 'Who is My mother and who are My brothers?' And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, 'Behold My mother and My brothers!' (Matthew 12:48-49).
Still, Jesus learned a lesson among relatives and old friends in His hometown of Nazareth, because 'He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He wondered at their unbelief' (Mark 6:5-6).
How did the other nine disciples feel when they were left out of their Beloved's work and revelations at key moments? How would those closest to you feel? Probably not pleased!
On the other hand, Jesus sought the approval of only One--God; 'I always do those things that please Him' (John 8:29).
Jesus chose carefully the ones to whom He would reveal His mission, mysteries, plans and powers. He did not give them to those not yet ready to receive them.
Actors, models and talent for Christ must copy the Master. Don't allow dream haters, doubt, or negativity to hinder your performance--to stop your work. Love everyone in the circle of your life, but choose your inner circle wisely.
